The Winchester House is located in the small village of Smith's Cove...a very tranquil community established on the shores of the Annapolis Basin in 1759. In 1783, one of the earliest settlers, Joseph Potter Jr., exchanged land grants with a United Empire Loyalist named Joseph Smith from whom the community derived it's name. Smith settled on the southwest side of the point of land located just behind the Winchester House.
The Winchester House offers three unique and comfortable suites. This historic house which is one of the oldest homes in Smith's Cove underwent a major renovation to create a comfortable, relaxing and romantic retreat.
Each luxury suite with individual entrances, individual character, is self-contained and tastefully decorated. Our air conditioned suites are equipped with a fridge, microwave and coffee maker for freshly brewed coffee. Each is comfortably appointed to ensure an enjoyable stay! All suites have complimentary wireless high-speed internet as well as telephones.
Over three kilometers (two miles) of water frontage gives the area a broad view of the unsurpassed charm of Annapolis Basin with the sweeping Fundy tides. The delightful summer climate is invigorating in the daytime and restfully cool at night.

---My husband and I were 10 days into our first visit to Canada, with 2 weeks left to go, when we arrived at the Harbourview Inn for 3 nights in July 2006. We felt at home as soon as we walked in and were very pleased with the decoration, cleanliness and facilities offered and its quiet location. We were lucky to have good weather and it was lovely to be able to leave the screened windows wide open at night to feel the breeze and hear the sounds of the countryside. Breakfast was plentiful, beautifully presented and varied each of morning of our stay. The homemade jams were amazing. Although the location was a bit off the beaten track, there was a choice of restaurants in Digby only about 10 minutes drive away, and it was a good location to visit some of the sights in the area - Fort Royal, Annapolis Royal, Bear River and Briers Island. The day we went whale watching from Briers Island turned foggy and a bit cold but we were rewarded with the amazing sight of several humpback whales.
Overall, out of all the places we stayed in during our tour of Nova Scotia, the Harbourview Inn was one of the nicest. South Hampton, England
